Hi there, I'm Emma, founder of nuude. A young woman born in South Africa, who has been fortunate enough to travel the world with a particular love for Summer, sunshine and beaches. Since I was a little girl fashion has always been an interest of mine, but my one true love is swimwear. It's safe to say I have enough bikinis to wear a different one each day of the year. I grew up wearing those bikinis with a childlike confidence, an unreserved belief in oneself, unburdened by self-doubt or fear of judgment.

 

I can’t quite put a time stamp on it but, somewhere along the line, as I grew older, exposed to the adverse effects of social media and societal pressures I developed an unhealthy relationship with my body. Body dysmorphia, binge eating and bulimia became everyday battles that I silently fought. I was petrified to even look at my body in the mirror. The confidence to wear my beautiful clothes and bikinis disappeared.

 

Fast forward a few years later, I finally found the strength and courage to seek the help I needed. I began to heal my relationship with my mind and body. I focused on glowing from the inside and with that I began to glow on the outside. You have one body. Learn to appreciate, embrace, look after and be kind to your body at every stage in your life. Love yourself as you love others. My hope is that sharing my own struggles will empower and inspire at least one woman to not suffer in silence. Do not let your physical appearance define your worth. 

 

After years of learning, failing, growing, loving and traveling the world, I felt inspired and ready to make my dream of starting my swimwear brand a reality. Along came nuude.
